A Diverce Album

The songs on here are mostly downbeat. Is that the proper way of saying the opposite of upbeat? (musically speaking. the answer is no. Just trying to make a bit of a joke).

They try to tell stories about life's roads: among those are the ones I was walking on in 2007-2008. Or more so how I was feeling. Sometimes blue, sometimes filled with cautious optimism, sometimes simply wondering. Most of them are melancholy, but, there are three exceptions in "Music", "I Keep Walking the Road That Leads Me Back to You", and "My Kind of Living". The one mentioned second there, is one I wanted to have on the album because I wanted to leave the door open for love again. It was a call, or a prayer, or both.

"A Different Road" ... does one not feel like one wants to walk on a different road than what one is on from time to time? But, then again, whether or not one is walking on one road or another, one is always walking on one's own road of life.

"Wonderful Heartache". The song was written because I had a song idea and a melody to go with it. It just happened that it fit in with the rest of the walkers/songs. My favorite lyric in the song is "A house so full of loneliness". Do you have a favorite lyric in there? If so, please share in the comments! :)

Where "Thank You Song" comes from

Inevitable, there are trials in life. It is a common belief that they will grow you and make you stronger.

"Thank You Song" comes from a place like that. It was a day like any other day (way before this thing in 2020 hit us), and why an event triggered me to write it, is a mystery, just like Life itself, but what I do know is that my husband was still hooked on narcotic pain pills at the time, and the unpredictability of each moment was a constant cloud hanging over us and me. He had had one of his out-lashes and it was  after that moment "Thank You Song" came about.  I turned to my consolers God and music and reached for my guitar and simply started strumming and singing. The words and the melody instantly started flowing through from my heart and the Holy Spirit . There is no other explanation when a song simply starts seemingly out of "nothingness". The purpose for me that evening was to find strength in life's weakness to connect with a feeling of gratitude, so that I could turn a resentment into something uplifting.

In this day and time, when we all are more or less in an adaptive stage of living, my hope is that you will find strength and inspiration from hearing this song.

PS. There is a dictionary on my facebook page that explains some of the terminology I use in the song: https://www.facebook.com/krizrogerscountrymusic/photos/p.10157202566266470/10157202566266470/?type=1&theater

and I would like to add that "Bigger Scheme" refers to God's plans for not just you and me, but for human kind as a whole.

A Musical Landmark

My signature song "Singing My Blues Away" was recorded at a studio in Hudiksvall, Sweden. My audio engineer and co-producer Henrik Mangseth of Mangseth Music Maker, and I worked on the recording here:

Norra Kykogatan 9, Hudiksvall, Sweden. The place where Kriz Rogers (former Kriztina Aahs) recorded her "Singing My Blues Away" at. The picture is from google maps's streetview. Link to map Brandgaraget, Hudiksvall on google maps

"Singing My Blues Away" can be downloaded on iTunes, Amazon etc.

How To Treat

Trick or Treat? Wrong season, I know, but I'm just thinking about how to treat oneself right.

"If you're gonna treat yourself, treat yourself right."

So how do oneself treat oneself right? If you want to feel good with the side of you that has a righteous spirit, do what is good for the soul.
  • Do something for someone else without expectations.
  • Listen to the birds.
  • Smile
What do you do to treat yourself right? Comments welcome!

"Items" I carry

Items do not neccessarily have to be tangible: they can be things like memories ... one piece I carry with me is both in physical form and in a feeling of collected family memories.  What I am talking about is a photograph of my mom, my auint and my uncle taken when they were youngsters.  My aunt (seated in the middle) was the oldest; my mom (to the left) was and is the youngest.

Places I've Played II

As I was searching for a file on my computer today, I came across something entirely different from what I was searching for: a poster from a gig me and my band did in 2008 along with the Sun Records artist Rayburn Anthony. It was extremely fun!  The crowd was cheering, clapping and singing along. Some of the songs we did were "Storms Never Last" and "Jackson"  And in the midst of a song, the strap to my guitar broke! Lol. As I was standing up and playing and singing, I pushed the guitar as best I could against my body with my right arm while strumming.  After we had played the song through, I asked my bass player to entertain the audience while I fixed it good enough to hold together for the rest of the show. Crazy memory ...

Music Bucket List

Many of the places I have and still are to visit here in Nashville have been and are on my music bucket list. I have been to concerts at the Ryman (original home of the Grand Ole Opry), walked up and down Broadway hopping in and out of honky tonks listening to music and ordering an occasional Sprite/Sierra Mist (if you thought I'd say beer, you were way off the mark since I don't drink) and have had the pleasure of experiencing The Grand Ole Opry shows. Those were my listening pleasure bucket list things to do, so why not list my own music bucket list performances I would like to do ....

1. The Grand Ole Opry

2. The Ryman

3. On the Music City Roots

4. In Branson

5. In Bakersfield

6. At Dollywood

This list is going to be updated with venues around the world. To be continued.

A Poem To My Granddaughter

The Poem To My Granddaughter is both a poem and a prayer. I wrote it in Swedish first, to dedicate it to her on her Christianing Ceremony at the church in Jättendal, but here I am posting both the original and the poem translated into English:

Den dagen du föddes var himlen så blå,
Träden så vackra - var gren likaså.
Vart litet korn grus gladdes just för din skull:
Må av all denna kärlek din själ alltid va' full.
Amen.

On the day you were born the sky was so blue,
The trees, oh, so gorgeous - each limb of them too.
Each grain of the sand felt pure joy over you:
May of all of this love your soul always be true.
Amen.

On The Chart!

Sometimes I feel the need to pinch myself in the arm.  Especially when I find out that my position on the charts is way up there. Recently I reached the #10 spot on the Reverbnation Americana Chart for Nashville! And I know that you who are reading this are part of my success. Thank you!

The Creation Of Eddy's Song

Where does a song start? In your heart? In the air? in the atmosphere?  I believe it is as unexplainable as trying to hypothesize on what God is all about (although I know that God is Love).  All I know is that it starts with a feeling and a thought.  Before that: all the places, encounters and experiences that lead to those.

Some of the elements of inspiration to"Eddy's Song" were that I was at a time and place where I had a guitar player that just had introduced me to the magic world of Billy Joe Shaver’s work.  The guitar player had also recently welcomed a son into this world whom was given the name Eddie.  My drummer had just had a daughter.  The thoughts of those new lives and the myriad of possibilities of obstacles and positive events the children would see on their way of becoming grown are what triggered my wish for them to have not just one, but many strong and loving hands to help lead and guide them through the can be at times enervating journey.

Recently I performed a Nashville Showcase at Jeanne's Dinner Theatre here in Nashville and the first song I performed was "Eddy's Song". You can watch it here

You can also download the song from the Kriz Rogers'/Kriztina Ahs & Countryfied's CD "Roads" here

Foot note: the sub title of the song is "Everybody Needs Someone".

What can one do on a Sunday? A lot of things naturally ... I have been updating some of my bios out there in the cyber world. One of them is the Last.fm biography.  If you would like to know more of my story, read it on last.fm

Maybe there is something new in there that you didn't already know? One can never have to much knowledge! :-)

My Favorite Swedish Soda

This is definitely on my check list of what to eat/drink each time I go to Sweden: Trocadero, a soft drink that has a flavor of apple and peach. Kinda.

Trocadero is Kriz Rogers favorite carbonated soft drink.
