A Happy July 4th

This year Independence Day in Nashville was a little bit rainy, but still happy. We managed to dodge the rain showers at a picnic at my favorite spot and went home to listen to all the bursts of fireworks around us and the AT&T Live stream online from the largest fireworks show in the nation!

Beans, chips, veggie dogs, hot dogs, home made potato salad and white grape juice to drink.

Happy Birthday to Glenn D. Tubb!

This weekend the great songwriter Glenn D. Tubb celebrates his 80th Birthday. He is a legendary songwriter, but also a very humble servant - and an ordained Minister - for our Heavenly Father.

What can you give someone who seemingly has everything? I have a suggestion: he is working with the Midnite Jamboree Association where he is a Director,  for their mission to "preserve the history of Country Music, while also preserving the airing and production of the Ernest Tubb Midnite Jamboree." (quote from their website).

Read about their efforts here http://midnitejamboreeassociation.com/  and then make a pledge; send your contributions to:  The Midnite Jamboree Association, P.O. Box 159326, Nashville, TN 37215

Two celebrations - many days

If you do a search on the internet for what day Mother's or Father's Day is on, you will receive a list of many different dates for different countries. Here in the States the days are on the second Sunday in May and the third Sunday in June respectively. Since the Swedish Mother's Day also is in May (but on the third Sunday), I simply buy the card for my mother shortly before the US day is and mail it a week after. The card for my father though, I buy in June and hold on to until November, since the Swedish Father's Day is on the third Sunday in November! :-)

A Valentine's Day

Since our schedule will be quite full tomorrow, we decided to celebrate Valentine’s Day today. I had bought a card that expressed gratitude for the love he shows me that I gave to him and he gave me a very sweet card expressing the joy he feels for my love for him.  As if that wasn't enough, he gave me a heart shaped glass bowl with a ring holder. That’s so sweet <3 Now I can place my wedding ring there on the few occasions I don’t wear it. I gave him a tool box (of paper) with a plush little heart pillow in it. He really liked those.

Other things we did for one another today (and every day) : when I made a rice cake and peanut butter  snack, I asked if he also wanted one.  When I cooked, he asked me if he could help me with anything. And we said spontaneous “I love yous”.

A Diverce Album

The songs on here are mostly downbeat. Is that the proper way of saying the opposite of upbeat? (musically speaking. the answer is no. Jus...
